Time for chances

First of all, thank you. Thank you for coming! Thank you for giving these little words a chance …

It’s that time of year, you know: Time for chances … for experiments … for growth. It’s time for Spring’s seed planting.

We’ve been softening soil, forming lines and mounds, pulling out pebbles and weeds, creating the most comfortable beds possible. The proof is under our fingernails. Dirt clings while preparing for good things … for life… it can get dirty sometimes.

Spades and shovels, rakes, hoes, garden forks and pruners sprawl around us. Some are old and trusted … others new and full of possibilities. The right tool makes the job easier and more pleasant. Under our hands’ work, the tools help create the best circumstances for our little seeds. And that’s where this small blog comes in. It’s meant to be a tool … one of the new ones … full of possibilities … It’s here to help hands plant the most important seed of our mortal journey: the word of Christ.

For planting that seed – His word – can grow into faith and blossom into the sweetest, most long lasting fruit imaginable.

Planting seeds means taking chances … it means experimenting … it means welcoming the miracle of growth – of faith.

“Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.” (Alma 32: 28).

So thank you for picking up a new tool … whether you’re an expert gardener who year after year tends the most beautiful plot or a novice with a single pot … I have the same prayer for you:

As you plant His words in your heart, may they grow good fruit … may your soul enlarge … your understanding enlighten. May His word taste delicious to you. May the miracle of faith grow UP towards Him.
